Hackers continue laundering 7,000 Bitcoin from the Binance hack
The hackers who stole 7,000 BTC from Binance continue to layer funds in an attempt to launder and obfuscate the Bitcoin’s connection to the hack. Read the latest report on the movement of these coins from analytics firm Coinfirm. Following the hack, major exchanges reacted by blacklisting the stolen funds. Coinbase, Poloniex, Kraken, and Huobi would freeze the funds should hackers directly deposit them into accounts on the exchanges. To circumvent these controls, the hackers have continued to move the funds in an elaborate chain of transactions to obfuscate their connection to the hack. Small amounts of BTC were sent to six exchanges in the following amounts, likely to test whether they would be detected and frozen: Kraken: 5.9851 BTC Huobi: 0.1259 BTC BitX.co (Luno): 0.2987 BTC BTC-Alpha: 0.0439 BTC CoinGate: 0.0089 BTC BitPay: 0.0009 BTC CryptoSlate reached out to the exchanges that received these illicit deposits for comment and has yet to receive responses. https://preview.redd.it/er5bkgygnff31.png?width=1583&format=png&auto=webp&s=cdb78aa27fbda783f0f5c6976a92f08102f47054 Coinfirm has created the AMLT platform so that users can report suspicious addresses instead of receiving AMLT tokens. This will help in creating secure cryptocurrency ecosystems. Why become an AMLT Network Member? The AMLT Network allows its members to protect themselves and the economy as a whole while earning AMLT for sharing data that helps protect the online financial system - both crypto and traditional. Network members who submit information on hackers, fraudsters and other bad actors will be rewarded with AMLT; tokens are also awarded for positive reports of reliable entities. AMLT can be spent to purchase services such as AML reports and services on the Coinfirm platform. You can report an address here. Anyone can share data and help protect themselves and the financial system as whole, and those who hold the minimum balance of AMLT can become members of the Network and be rewarded in AMLT for contributing data. Network members also receive privileged access to Coinfirm products such as our monitoring panel, the AMLT knowledge pool with exclusive content and materials as well as additional benefits and features, helping them limit exposure to risk and increase transparency for themselves and their clients. Members also receive discounts on services such as AML reports from Coinfirm.
